Rosa J. Gray

Rosa J. (Lewis) Gray, 94, formerly of South Winchester Avenue, departed this life on Monday, October 11, 2010, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, Virginia.

She was born on July 13, 1916, in Augusta County, Virginia, a daughter of Robert Emmit and Lucy H. (Green) Lewis.

She was a member and a Deaconess of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Her parents; her husband, Calvin Gray; five sisters and two brothers, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Irene Ensley and her husband, William, of Washington, D.C. and Angel Randolph and her husband, Robert, of Waynesboro, Virginia; two sons, Calvin W. Gray of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, and Freddie A. Gray of Waynesboro, Virginia; one sister, Mable Ratliff of Waynesboro, Virginia; one brother, Robert E. Lewis of Staunton, Virginia; three grandchildren; eleven great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2010, at Shiloh Baptist Church. Burial will be at Augusta Memorial Park.

Public viewing will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010, at the McCutcheon's Funeral Home.

Rosa was my Tupperware hostess over 25 years ago. I remember her teaching me how to make chicken salad so it actually tasted good. I have wonderful memories of her and I'm sure that the family has many memories to share.
