Jim,Vicky, Pete, Courtney: I'll always remember Doug playing with Rowlf (our beloved lab dog) with that fishing pole. They had such fun. And the night Rowlf was hit by a car in the very early morning and Doug came to get him and put him in the back of the truck and then drove him and buried him under the big oak tree in the back. Broke my heart. Yes, he is a grand young man with a big heart. And my own dear Leon died just a very short 3 months later. Gayle and I send you our loving thoughts during this time and think of your family and what great neighbors you were to us. In loving remembrance. Annette Blaugrund and Gayle Morris.

We'll always remember Doug when he was a young boy and would come over to play and swim with our sons. I'll never forget his facial expression when he at one time helped pull a dog out of our pool who couldn't get out. He was quiet but with exemplary manners. We'll always remember him as being a special and treasured friend of our boys and a great neighbor as is his family.

Dear Jim, Vicky, Pete and Courtney:
We think of Doug often and remember what an integral part of Justin's life he was. Justin was recently mentioning how most teenagers these days wouldn't take the time for a little kid like Doug did. He learned a lot from Doug about fixing "things", I asked him what kinds of things he said "everything", you could say it was Justin's first beginnings in the field of mechanics. Whenever Justin was missing from the house I knew I could find him across the street with Doug, and I never worried about him being there, Doug was always kind to this pesky little kid.
As a parent I can't imagine that you ever get over the pain of losing a child, or as a sibling losing your brother, but I have seen all of you endure and succeed inspite of the pain, you are an inspiration to the rest of us.
Thank you for sharing your son with us, it was a pleasure knowing him the short amount of time we did.
