Steve Senecal Obituary

On Thursday, March 15, 2007, Steve was reported missing from his return of an offshore fishing trip. His last known position was in the vicinity of the St. Augustine Weather buoy, approximately 40 miles East of St. Augustine.

Steve spent much of his life on the water, learning how to surf here in St. Augustine and traveling to California, the Bahamas, Costa Rica and the ultimate waves of the North Shore of Hawaii. His enjoyment of the water shifted to fishing on the family boat "Knothome."

As an avid fisherman, Steve was well known for his Kingfish Tournament participation and accomplishments. The lure of the sea drew Steve to spend some of his work time as a commercial fisherman. He also worked with his brother, Scott, in the ceramic tile profession.

He graduated with the 1991 class of St. Augustine High School and is survived by his parents, Bill and Karen Senecal; his brother, Scott Senecal, all of St. Augustine. Other survivors, from out of the area include his grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine, with Solemn Vespers (Evening Prayer/Office for the Dead) on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 7 p.m. Visitation with family will follow.

Steve,
I'll never forget the fun times we had when we were young. Laughing, playing board games & watching you run around the fish market. I rememberyou only as a little boy. Bright eyes, blond hair & full of energy. I really regret not being able to see you grow into a man, but through your parents i've learned of your accomplishments & through your friends I have learned of your heart.
I will miss you always

Bill, Karen and family,
You are in our prayers. Words can't make your sorrow any easier to bear, But they can show how deeply others sympathize and care. Reach out for support when you need it. Take good care of yourself. Your son would want that. He will always be with you in your heart.

Dear Karen, Bill, and Scott,
I was so deeply saddened to hear of this tragedy. We snow birds from PA. received word from Vickie. There are no words to express what you are going through, but please be assured that from miles away you are in my thoughts and prayers.I did not know Steve but I knew of him through you, Karen. You are so proud of both of your boys. Very few people in this world get to live life to the fullest and experience their life's passions. But Steve was a rare individual who was able to do just that!!! He was also able to do these things with the the support and love of his family close by his side. For that he was truely blessed. No one knows why he was called home now, but I suppose there is some consolation in that he was doing what he loved.Karen, you are a woman of great strenght and faith, two things that will help you through.I wish I could be there in person, but instead I'll hope to see you this summer.
Please take care and God Bless,

Bonnie(from Pittsburgh)and
