Nathan Higgins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Craig Funeral Home on Jan. 14, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nathan Higgins, 50, who left us unexpectedly on January 8, 2026, in St. Augustine, Florida. Born in Elgin, Illinois, he was the son of Karen (Bochenek) Higgins and Charles Higgins III.
Nathan attended St. Augustine High School. He served proudly and honorably in the United States Marine Corps, and worked in several industries in St. Augustine, Florida.
Nathan was a proud father to his two children, Nathan Jr., who serves in the Army and is currently an Advanced Individual Training student at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and his daughter, Harper, a bright 6th grader at Sebastian Middle School. He adored his children and took immense pride in their accomplishments, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams. His love for life was evident in his passions; he enjoyed surfing, skateboarding, fishing, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
Nathan was dedicated to connecting with and helping fellow veterans, embodying a spirit of camaraderie and support. He was a free spirit, known for his fierce love for his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Nathan is survived by his mother, Karen Higgins; his children, Nathan Jr and Harper; his brother Charles Higgins IV; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, and niece. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Higgins III. A memorial will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:30pm at Craig Funeral Home, 1475 Old Dixie Highway St. Augustine, FL 32084.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Warrior Surf Foundation (WSF) at https://www.warriorsurf.org/donate in memory of Nathan's love of surfing and supporting other veterans. WSF provides a holistic approach toward mental and emotional wellness, assisting veterans in dealing with the various traumas that can occur as a result of service, while also fostering a new source of community post-transition. Rest in peace, Nathan. You will be missed more than words can express.
