George Bokowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. John's Family Funeral Home & Crematory on Dec. 23, 2025.
George David Bokowski, 57, lived a life defined by an unwavering positive spirit and remarkable courage. He passed away on December 18, 2025, but the light he brought into the world continues to shine. George faced his battle with Huntington's Disease with incredible strength and grace, a true testament to his resilience. Throughout his journey, he was surrounded by the deep love of his devoted mother, sisters, brothers, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. His legacy is one of joy, courage, and the enduring power of family love.

George was born on September 16, 1968, in Herkimer, New York, to George and Mary Jane (Harrington) Bokowski. He spent his early years in Herkimer before moving with his family to St. Augustine, Florida, in 1982, a place he would always call home. George was educated in both Herkimer and St. Augustine, graduating from St. Augustine High School.

A talented entrepreneur and proprietor of several local businesses, he was well-known for his craftsmanship, especially his famous wooden signs. He was an avid sports enthusiast, an unwavering New York Yankees fan, and cherished his frequent trips to upstate New York. He particularly enjoyed visiting the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown and exploring other local attractions near his childhood home.

His kind nature and gentle spirit made him a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a father and grandfather, who always spoke of his grandchildren with immense love and pride. He is now at rest, yet his memory remains a treasure to all who knew him.

George is survived by his mother, Mary Jane Bokowski, of St. Augustine, Florida; his siblings, Cathy Thompson of St. Augustine, Florida, Susan Pabes and her husband Bill of Little Falls, New York, Marsha Ralph and her husband David, Shaun Bokowski, Eric Bokowski and his wife Josie, and Jamie Bokowski, all of St. Augustine, Florida.

He is also survived by his nephews and nieces: Billy and Rachel Pabes of Herkimer, New York, Sean Thompson, Abby Pabes, Dominic Mobley, Cole Bokowski, Ethan Bokowski, Emma Bokowski, and Rahmere Greene, all of St. Augustine, Florida and Kathryn and Kora Pabes, of Herkimer New York.

George was preceded in death by his father, George Bokowski, and his paternal grandparents, George and Clara Bokowski. He also joins his maternal grandparents, David and Catherine Harrington, for whom George held a special place in his heart and whose memory he cherished deeply.

In keeping with George's wishes, there will be no calling hours. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer, NY.

It was always so good to run into you, mostly in Publix, where we had our discussions or when you were walking in the Shores along Vaill Point Road. Great reminiscing about our class together at SAHS and the shenanigans of Jerry and Charles. But there were more serious talks too about life and other substantive matters. So glad we reconnected after high school, fellow upstate New Yorker...

May you Rest In Peace.
God bless.
