Aldo Salvetti passed away peacefully and comfortably on August 6, 2022. Aldo was the beloved husband of Maureen Jordan Salvetti, predeceased by Elaine Salvetti, and is survived by his children, Joseph Salvetti, wife Candy, grandchildren Sawyer and Carson; Diane Salvetti, husband James; Peter Salvetti, wife Kim, her boys Joshua and Nicholas. He also leaves his stepchildren, Hal Jordan and his wife Maureen, their children, Hadan, Hailey, and Hannah; Chris Jordan and his wife Nancy, their children Brody and Scout; Jon Jordan and his wife Carolyn, their children Jonathan, Camryn, and Andrew. He was affectionally known by all as Nonno.
Aldo joins his beloved parents, Pietro and Olga and brothers Sergio and Lloyd, with fond memories of Sergio's wife Ida. He also leaves behind an extended family including Lloyd's wife Gail, and many nieces and nephews. Family was the foundation and cornerstone of his life.
Born in Cohasset in 1934, he was a lifetime resident of Marshfield, graduating from Marshfield High School in 1952. He was a proud member of the Marshfield Little Italy community having spent most of his life on Pleasant Street at the Salvetti Family Farm.
He was a consummate renaissance man with many talents including stone- work, brick laying, farming, gardening, cooking, woodworking, metal working, engine mechanic, welder, blacksmith, a true jack of all trades. Amongst his many talents, he was an accomplished musician and singer, playing the trombone, piano, ukulele, violin, accordion, harmonica, and mouth harp. Aldo also had a love of reading, classical music, and an appreciation for the arts.
Aldo was a master mason who was well respected for his work and left behind many masonry structures that will bear his signature style throughout the South Shore. The quality of his work is evident at the Winslow House, the Myles Standish Monument and multiple chimneys, hearths, walkways, fireplaces, and stone walls found throughout the South Shore. While working for the Bersani Brothers of Quincy, Aldo contributed to the construction of the Boston Prudential Tower, and numerous commercial buildings in Quincy, including the Proctor and Gamble facility, and the Quincy Shipyard.
Aldo was a compassionate, caring, and welcoming man. He has been described by loved ones as a sweet, quiet, gentle man, with a good sense of humor. He was known to be honest, hardworking, and loyal. He was the ultimate gentleman, humble, modest, patient, kind and soft spoken. Aldo was always willing to lend a hand or offer a solution to any and all who asked.
Throughout his life, Aldo formed lasting friendships and relationships with all who loved him. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all those he loved.
Visiting hours will e held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Burial will be private.
