Stephen "Steve" Rankin, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on the 1st of September 2025 at the age of 79. Born on the 7th of August 1946 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Richard and Dorothy (Ward) Rankin, Steve was the heart and soul of a family that adored him.

Steve's life was enriched by his loving wife of 23 years, Annette (Lomond) Rankin, and their bond was a beacon of devotion and love. Together they raised a family that includes their children: Michael and Debbie Rankin of Plymouth, Shelley Fantoni and Tommy Connors of Kingston, Karie Seppala and husband Pete of Abington, Stephanie Morrison and husband PJ of Braintree, and Karen Zebris and Alex Millen of Ames, Iowa. Each of Steve's children inherited his kind spirit and sense of duty to family and community.

He was the revered patriarch of a generation of grandchildren who will cherish his legacy: Taylor and Lindsay Rankin, DJ Fantoni and Sydney Connors, Anthony Pasciuto and Cameron Seppala, Declan and Erin Morrison, and Abigail and Teddie Oldham. His influence on their lives cannot be understated, as he instilled in them the values of honor, courage and laughter.

Steve's journey through life was shared with his siblings: Joan Aldridge of Marshfield, Wayne and Elaine Rankin of Pembroke, Linda and Bob Noyes of Ossippee, NH, Debbie and Bob Hobbs of Carver, and the late Alan Rankin. They remember him for his unwavering loyalty, his boisterous laugh, and his ability to listen without judgment. His many nieces and nephews will hold dear the countless memories of fun and adventure shared with Uncle Steve.

A proud graduate of Marshfield High School, Steve served his country with courage and distinction as a member of the Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he built a successful career as a Manager in Dispatch and IT for Refrigerated Food Express in Avon, where he was respected for his leadership and innovative thinking.

Steve Rankin lived a full life, marked by his commitment to his family, his service to his country, and his contributions to his community. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories, a family that loves him deeply, and a world that is better for his presence. As we say goodbye to Steve, we celebrate a life well lived and a man well loved.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Sunday, September 7th from 2:00-6:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 South Franklin Street, Holbrook. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 8th at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Steve's name to Norwell VNA and Hospice or Dana Farber Cancer Center.
