Barbara Gronda Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bobcean Funeral Home, Carleton on May 13, 2024.
Barbara Fay Gronda, age 94, of Carleton, Michigan peacefully passed away at her residence on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
Born on March 18, 1930 in Madison Twp, Michigan, Barbara was the daughter of Lewis and Mabel (Slagle) Emmel. On June 25, 1949 she married Harold Gronda in Sacred Heart Church on Grosse Ile, Michigan.
Barbara became an excellent cook while raising her large family. However, if you wanted one of her recipes, you had to work with her in the kitchen and take notes because she kept it all in her head! Barbara was an expert seamstress and loved to give handmade items as gifts. She sewed, crocheted, and knit baby blankets, gowns, cardigan sweater sets and many doilies over the years. She also was a member of a neighborhood quilting group while living on Red Cedar in Flat Rock, Michigan. Barbara was a member of the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six brothers, and one sister.
Barbara is survived by her nine children, Joseph (Debbie) Gronda, David (Sue) Gronda, Dennis (Donamae) Gronda, Joyce (James) Maynard, Robert Gronda, Sherilyn Papp, Scott Gronda, Todd (Yvette) Gronda, and Christopher Gronda. Barbara had fourteen grandchildren, Kevin Maynard, James Maynard II, Jeffery (Lisa) Maynard, Lisa Dudus, Nathan Gronda, Shaun Gronda, Sherilyn (Michael) Kuhn, Stephanie (Joshua) Miller, Suzanne (Adam) Moreau, Sadie (Nicholas) D'Alimonte, Richard (Jacquelyn) Papp, Kallen (Audry) Papp, Andrew Gronda, and Alexis Gronda. In addition, she had twenty two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren!
Barbara will be laid to rest in the Carleton Cemetery near her husband, Harold. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions in her memory be made to a charity of the giver's choice.
