Our Fearless Fighter and Our Inspiration
Brian Targonski, age 44, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and family, on Saturday, March 25, 2023 after a brave battle with cancer. He was the husband and best friend of Kristan (Savo) Targonski.
Born on April 19, 1978 in Waterbury, Brian was the son of Neil Targonski of
Jacksonville, FL and Marianne Kight of Waterbury. He was a graduate of Wilby High School and worked as a custom cabinet builder for Village Cabinet. He was a gifted musician and a talented self-taught guitarist who loved to jam with his friends, and the most special sessions were with his daughter on drums. A true music aficionado, Brian attended many concerts, festivals, and jam sessions. Artistic and imaginative, Brian painted beautiful scenes; many of which are in the homes of family and friends. He was a skilled woodworker and with wood and resin created exquisite pieces of art and furniture.
The light of his life was his daughter Madison, and he made the most of the years he had with her count with trips to Disneyworld and lots of fun "father/daughter" time.
With an amazing outlook on life, both before and after his cancer diagnosis in 2017, Brian was an inspiration to everyone he encountered. His quick wit and sense of humor, second to none, was ever present until the end. He had friends everywhere he went, and all have an entertaining story with Brian in it. He will be missed by many, but his spirit will live on in every Van Halen song you hear, every Family Guy episode you watch that he quoted, or the random rooster or cardinal that appears.
In addition to Kristan, his devoted wife and partner in crime and his loving parents Neil and Marianne, Brian is survived by his cherished, beautiful daughter Madison Rose Targonski of Waterbury; his brother Michael Targonski and his wife Tina of
Clinton, TN; his grandmother Mary Kight of Waterbury; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Andrew and MaryAnn Savo of
Hudson, FL. He also leaves his uncles Johnnie Kight of Waterbury, James Kight of Waterbury and Joseph Kight and his wife Pam of
Pittsfield, MA and Steven Targonski and his wife Debbie of
Jacksonville, FL; his aunts Vicki Jimerson and her husband Wayne and Tammy Morrison, all of
Jacksonville, FL; as well as his nephew William Targonski of
Clinton, TN, Madison's mom Emily Klobocishta and her husband Alban of Waterbury, many cousins, numerous friends and his beloved dogs Gracie and Goldie and his cat Cali. He was predeceased by his brother John Targonski.
