Carol A. Althoff, 82, of Watson, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Lutheran Care Center in Altamont or St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.

Carol was born on October 29, 1942, in Effingham County, Dieterich, IL, the daughter of Victor and Beulah (Hutchen) Schmidt. She married David Althoff on October 17, 1970 at Stonington Catholic Church in Stonington, IL. Carol enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and working in her flower gardens. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Carol is survived by her husband, David Althoff; son, Devin (Megan) Althoff; and grandchildren, Loren Althoff and Wade Althoff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Arthur Schmidt and Darrell Schmidt.
