Charles Philip "Phil" Hanna, of Columbia, KY, died June 26, 2024, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. He was born November 14, 1951, in Louisville, KY. He was predeceased by his missionary parents, Rev. Edwin B. Hanna and Arpiné Yenovkian Hanna. He grew up in the Republic of Lebanon and attended Gerard Institute in Sidon and the American Community School in Beirut. A graduate of Transylvania University, he also earned master's degrees from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, University of Louisville, and University of Kentucky. He was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Lindsey Wilson College, where he served for 24 years until his retirement as Director of Library Services. Retirement did not agree with Phil, and he soon found another position he loved as a genealogist at the Adair County Library's Genealogy and History Research Center.
Phil found joy in bringing knowledge to people. As an enthusiast and promoter of the arts, he was instrumental in bringing many performers and lecturers to Columbia, through both LWC and the Adair County Arts Council.
Phil is survived by his partner of 28 years, Natalie R. Lund of Glasgow, KY; brothers Edwin A. Hanna (Kim) of Bowling Green, KY, and Richard B. Hanna (Lisa) of Bessemer, AL; nieces Dawn Purdey and Valerie Bell; nephews Parker Hanna and Owen Hanna; and many cousins and other special family members.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home in Glasgow, KY.

I always enjoyed talking with Phil at the reunions. He asked me once about a poem by Jan Stanley, which I was happy to provide. Seems like I remember hanging out with Phil and Charlie Ovenshine, especially in our freshman year.
