My family spent a lot of time with Shafers. My mom and Charlie´s mom were sisters, Evelyn & Louise, so Charlie & I were cousins. Our times at the farm were so much fun. My sister Doris and I were close in age to Charlie, Stan, Jane & Joe. Charlie was the ring leader and always came up with fun things to do. We jumped from the rafters into the grain bins, played zoo in the milking cages, swam in the cow troughs, played endless monopoly, and laughed a lot! When I was 5 yr old and he was 7 yr, he accidentally cut off my finger with a hatchet! Long story. A few years later when my older brother was working at the farm, he accidentally cut off Charlie´s finger on the tractor! Dr was able to sew my finger back on. If you knew Charlie, you may have noticed the tip of his one finger was missing. Despite the fingers, we had such fun together.
I pray that all in Charlie´s family feel God´s comfort and peace.
