Donald "Shorty" Denton

Donald Denton, 84, of Westlake, LA passed away on July 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born on April 5, 1939, in Lacassine, LA to Hood and Delia Denton.
Shorty enjoyed working on tractors and solving any equipment problems that came up for local farmers during his life. He was the first to farm soybeans in this area and greatly enjoyed the agriculture industry. You could find Shorty enjoying life while working on equipment, dirt track cars, listening to live music, and visiting over a cup of coffee. He will always be remembered for his hard work and sincere friendships. Shorty was a member of Antioch Baptist Church for many years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Don Denton and wife Lisa of Sulphur, LA, Karen Denton of Sulphur, LA, Mark Denton and wife Kim of WY, and Shannon Kenny and husband Rick of Carlyss, LA.; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 4 siblings, Norman "Doggie" Denton, Wayne Denton, Sheila Hampton, and Linda Carte.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Vida Denton; daughter, Mitzi Denton; brother, Abner Denton; sister, Vivian "Puffy" Denton.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM Friday, July 7, 2023, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Friday from 8-10 AM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home prior to services. Burial will be at Rigmaiden Cemetery in DeQuincy, LA.
