Donna Dale Truitt

Donna Dale Campbell-Truitt, of Leander, TX, passed away on August19, 2023 at the age of 80. She was born on September 3,1942 to the parents of John & Mary Campbell, in Ballinger, TX.
She was the oldest of 7 siblings. She loved to run as child, and play outside. She often told the story of their dog, "King" that followed & protected she and her sister, Bea, wherever they went. When they went into the neighborhood store, King would guard the door and not let any other customers in, until the girls came back outside. She said the store owner would chuckle and tell the customers to "just wait, they'll be out in a minute." She loved that dog and recalled his memory often.
Her family moved around Texas post WWII. They eventually settled in the Four Points area of Lake Travis, Leander, TX. That's where she met her husband to be, Edward Lee Truitt. They wed on December 22, 1962. She was a devoted wife and mother, raising 3 children. When the 3 grandchildren came along, she loved taking care of them and spending as much time as she could with them.
Donna had an outgoing personality. She would be involved in church, helping out the nursery, and toddler classes. She also loved reading and studying archeology, the solar system, history and the Bible. She enjoyed movies, from science fiction to westerns.
She was an avid gardener, and talented seamstress and quilter. She loved her family and family history, loved to dig into the ancestry and think about those who came before us.
Donna is survived by her husband Edward "Bud" Truitt, her children Russell Truitt, his wife Christy Cole Truitt, and Diana Truitt. Cherished grandchildren, Christopher Truitt, his wife Brittany, Jaclyn Truitt & Caleb Truitt. Precious great-grandchildren Brooklyn & Emery. Siblings Sue Campbell-Moore & Deborah Campbell-Turner. Many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
She is predeceased by her parents, a baby brother Johnie Russell, Brother Stephen D, her sister Brenda Campbell-Martensen, brother Buddy Campbell, and beloved daughter Terri Lea Truitt-Jones. I'm sure they are having a tremendous family reunion with all the aunts, uncles, grands and greats, & cousins in our eternal home of Glory with our Father God, Lord Jesus & Holy Spirit.
A private immediate family memorial will take place in the Fall where she will be laid to rest alongside other Campbell family members in the Pleasant Retreat Cemetery in Thorndale, TX.
Many have reached out to the family about services. We know that many loved Donna, please take time to remember her and honor her memory in your own way and time. She will know your thoughts and love for her, in spirit.
