Michael A. Truitt

Michael Alvin Truitt passed peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, after a long battle with liver cancer. Born in Lewes, DE, on January 8, 1952, he was the son of the late Rev. Vernon "Bud" Truitt (Betty) and Helena Hudson Drzewicki (Tom). He was raised by his beloved grandparents Vernon and Jennie Pearl Truitt.

He served multitudes of people through his preaching, youth, and pastoral ministry for over 30 years. He mentored many people over the years through the churches where God directed him to serve. He was a Youth for Christ director in Talbot, Queen Anne's, and Caroline Counties in Maryland. Michael trained many current pastors and impacted numerous others in approximately 50 years (in total) of music ministry and outreach on the Bethany Beach, DE, and Ocean City, MD boardwalks. He enjoyed playing his guitar, harmonica, and kick drum to an audience of beachgoers.

He is survived by his two sons Thaddeus James Truitt and Michael Benjamin Truitt (Melissa), his granddaughters Novie Truitt and Sophie Truitt, brothers Bruce Truitt (Teri), David Truitt (Jennifer), Chris Truitt, Matthew Truitt (Judy), sister Quinette Truitt Mahlow, as well as, brother Thomas Drzewicki, sister Dawn Drzewicki, his well loved cousins Paula Hudson Helms (Bill), Guy Morin (Lynne), including a host of many other cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

In addition to his grandparents and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother George C. Drzewicki, his beloved uncle and aunt Paul and Joan Morin, cousin Ken Hudson, and Aunt Mabel Hudson.

On Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Bay Shore Community Church, Millsboro Campus, 36759 Millsboro Highway, Millsboro, DE there will be a visitation with family from 10-11a.m. with a celebration of life service to follow at 11a.m.
