Dakoda Tyeler Truitt, a beloved father, son, brother, and decorated combat veteran, passed away on August 24, 2025, at the age of 30. Born in Springfield, Missouri, on November 14, 1994, Dakoda's life was characterized by his unwavering selflessness, love, and a unique sense of humor that brightened the lives of all who knew him.
He leaves behind a legacy of courage and dedication, both to his country and his family. After graduating from OTC with his high school diploma, Dakoda pursued further education to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Medication Technician (Med Tech), showcasing his innate desire to care for others. His commitment to service was further demonstrated through his proud tenure in the United States Army. As an 11 Bravo Infantryman, Dakoda rose to the rank of E5 Sergeant, where his skills as a combat lifesaver and combatives instructor were invaluable to his unit. His military career was distinguished by numerous awards, including the Army Achievement Medal Third Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Badge with Rifle Bar, and a Certificate of Achievement. Dakoda's heroism extended beyond the battlefield. As an organ donor, he continued his legacy of giving by saving four lives, a testament to his enduring generosity.
His Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his daily actions and providing a source of strength and comfort. A devoted father, Dakoda cherished every moment he spent with his children, Brantley, Saylor, and Kenaya. Whether he was working out at the gym, shooting guns, or simply hanging out with friends, he always found ways to incorporate his children into his adventures, creating lasting memories that they will treasure forever.
Dakoda's memory will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Rhanda Ramirez; step-father, Santos Ramiers; brother, Bradley Truitt; Omar Ramirez; stepbrother, aunt, Dawn Hartman; uncle, James Ross; aunt, Maria Bush; and grandmother, Patti Thompson, along with Ed Thompson and numerous other friends and family members who were touched by his vibrant spirit.
Those who knew Dakoda will recall his infectious laughter, his eagerness to lend a helping hand, and his unwavering commitment to his family and country. His presence will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
