Elizabeth Mary Souza

Elizabeth Mary (Maier) Souza died peacefully at Life Care Center of Plymouth on Tuesday, July 11th. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred A. Souza. Born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on May 4, 1924, daughter of the late Michael P. and Albina (Cadorette) Maier. Educated in the Plymouth Schools and graduate of Massasoit Community College. Elizabeth and her husband were the longtime owners and operators of Souza's On the Wharf on Plymouth's Waterfront. Active in the Plymouth community she was involved with the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, Plymouth Elks, and the Habitat for Humanity. She had also worked as ammunition maker and worked at B.J.'s giving out samples. She was a pioneer in the West Plymouth community and loved her trips to the casinos. She loved to travel and had traveled throughout the world.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving children Cheryl Ann Robbins of Hyannis, Donna Marie Burbank and her partner Paul 'Rick' Ecker of Halifax, John "Jack" Souza and his wife Linda of Plymouth and Paul F. Souza and his wife Donna of Plymouth. She leaves her sister Gloria Vacchi of Plymouth and was the sister to the late Michael Maier Jr. She was the cherished grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 16 and great – great grandmother of 6. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours in St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church 126 South Meadow Rd. West Plymouth on Saturday July 15th from 9:00am till 11:00am with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am celebrated by her grandson Rev Gerald Souza. Private burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Plymouth at a later date. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth P.O.
