Emma Lou Coffin was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away on April 9, 2023.
She was born in Knoxville, TN on July 13, 1932 to Russell and Gladys McCoy Hanlon. Emma Lou resided in Knoxville her entire life. She went to Old Knoxville High School and then attended the University of Tennessee. During her youth she could be seen riding her horse on Gatlinburg's Main Street. She also enjoyed the mountain streams and on her birthday got to swim twice.
She married Jim Coffin in 1955. Together they had two children: Park and Leslie.
Emma Lou had a great enjoyment for playing Bridge and was an accomplished player.
She believed in Jesus Christ as her savior and his death and resurrection for everyone including herself.
Emma Lou leaves her husband Jim; her children: Park Coffin(Carol) and Leslie Swift(Mike); her 4 grandchildren: Christopher Swift (Leigh Ann), Tyler Swift (Katie), Hanlon Coffin, Elliott Coffin (Meredith); and 5 great grand children.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am on April 29, 2023 at Rose Funeral & Cremation - Mann, 6200 Kingston Pike. The family would like to thank the staff at Little Creek for their exceptional care and support these last five years. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Mobile Meals at 2247 Western Ave; Knoxville, TN 37921.

Emma Lou will always be remembered by me from the 1980s when she was a customer of the Frame House and then Franklin Gallery. She had such a lively personality and was so very kind. I'm sure she leaves a big hole in the hearts of those who loved her. My condolences.
