Francis Michael Quinn Jr. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday February 17, 2024. Frank was born in Cambridge, Ma on September 3, 1933. He was raised in Melrose by his aunt and uncle, Earl and Helen Martin, and was an integral, much loved part of their family.
Frank was a long-time resident of Scituate, Ma where he enjoyed raising his four children and spending time at the beach, on his boat, and on the golf course. Frank also enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Vermont with friends and family. Frank was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved.
Frank graduated from Christopher Columbus High School, Boston in 1953. After graduating from high school, Frank attended Boston College where he was a member of the varsity hockey team under Coach Snooks Kelly. In three years he scored 48 points with 25 goals and 23 assists. Frank was awarded the Boston College unsung Athlete award on April 21, 1956. Frank had the distinction of being the first hockey player to receive this award.
In 1962, Frank's love for hockey led him to begin his 43 year coaching journey at Archbishop Williams High School (Braintree, Ma), where he had over 500 career wins. In 1991, he led the bishops to their first State title. Frank's passion for hockey and enthusiasm taught so many to love the game, to embrace challenges, and to always give their best no matter the circumstances. His wisdom, advice, and mentorship has helped many players and taught them the important life lessons that will carry them forever.
Second to hockey, was Frank's love for golf. He was a longtime member of the Sliver Club, the Marshfield Country Club (Marshfield, Ma), and the Okemo Golf Club (Ludlow, Vt), where he spent so much time with his two sons and many friends.
Frank worked at the Lamb and Ritchie Company for over 65 years. He was fortunate to have a career that he not only excelled at but loved! Frank did not have "customers" he had "friends". His love for the building trade and everyone he met through his travels kept him working well into his 80's.
Frank was adored by his children and grandchildren. He loved watching many of his grandchildren excel at their respective sports. On any given day, Frank could be found at a hockey rink, soccer or football field, softball or field hockey field, cheering his grandchildren on. Nothing made him happier than watching them play.
Husband of the late Phyllis P Quinn (Fiendel) and devoted father of Susan M. Quinn of Melrose, Kathy Samson and husband Andrew of Gales Ferry, Ct, Stephen F. Quinn and wife Lorraine of Hanson, and Michael S. Quinn and wife Nicoletta of Plymouth. Frank is survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved very much: Shannon Ormsbee, husband Dave and children Grayson, Gavin, Grady, and LiliyB, Gregorii, Siobhan, Veronica, and Eibhilin Whittemore, Austin and Logan Samson, Alyssa Samson-Schultz and husband Nicholas, Nicole Quinn and Bryan Allan, and Michael (Jr) Quinn, Tonya DeNormand husband Rob and son Ethan, Zach Blanchard and daughter Zoey. Frank is also survived by sister Jeanne (Quinn) Sweeney of Chelmsoford, Connie (Martin) McLaughlin and Florence Martin of Melrose, Regina (Quinn) Scotto of Morristown NJ, Dianna Quinn, and childhood friend Eddie Carroll of Marshfield, Ma.
Our family would like to personally thank Frank's daughter-in-law, Nicoletta, for all she did for our dad in the last few years. We are sure dad's soul is sending you blessings and appreciation. But, of course, the rest of us are also grateful to you. Please know how much we appreciate everything you did for Dad and you are loved!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth Ma on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 1:00p-3:00 pm. A prayer service will immediately follow at the Funeral Home. A celebration of Life will be held following the service at the Indian Pond Country Club, 60 Country Club Way, Kingston.

Frankie played hockey for BC , I (Mike McDonough) played for Providence. We played together in Melrose for years before and after college. Once when playing BC in the Boston Garden Frank got the puck in BC end. I played defense and was now covering him coming up ice. Knowing Frankie's tendacies , I went the right boards because that is where he always went even though now mid ice was open for him. WE MET AT THE RIGHT BOARDS AND WE FORGOT THE PUCK AS WE BOYH BROKE OUT LAUGHTER. Frankie knew I would go to meet him on the boards because of our great friendship. He was a wonderful friend and a fine gentleman. May he rest in peace . Mike McDonough I

I met Frank in 1977 as a customer. What I can remember then was how fair and honest he was in all dealings. By the mid 80´s I started my own business. I will always remember how supportive Frank was. When it was my turn, he never let me pickup a check. Always had BC football tickets for me. Sponsored me into Sliver Club! Was a true friend from the beginning! He will be missed!
