James Carlie Dailey age 80 of Sturgis, KY passed away on Tuesday May 13, 2025 at the Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. He was born January 30, 1945 to the late John "Boo Gene" & Pearl Love Dailey in Sturgis, KY. He was a hard working coal miner that put his family first. James was a devoted Christian unto the Lord in his service. He also was a US Army Veteran. He loved children and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. James was a servant and caregiver to his family and community. He enjoyed horseback riding.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James Christopher Dailey; 3 sisters, Katherine Mayes, Mary Belle Case, and Elsie Hazel.
Survivors include:
Wife of 60 years: Melinda Sue Dailey of Sturgis, KY
2 Daughters: Rhonda Burnette and husband Sandy of Henderson, KY
Marcie Dailey of Sturgis, KY
4 Sisters: Helen Stanley of Columbus, IN
Christine Ervin and husband Bill of Owensboro, KY
Barbara Corley of Sturgis, KY
Theresa Bebout of Henderson, KY
Grandchildren: Tyler and Seth Burnette
John Michael and Josie Carlie Dailey
Mallory and Christopher Lane Dailey
8 Great Grandchildren
The service will be 2PM Friday, May 16, 2025 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. Bro. Jody Heistand will officiate. The burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery. The visitation will be 10AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
