James "Stoney" Stone age77 of Sturgis, passed away on Monday at the Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born August 17, 1948to the late Jack & Lillian Foster Stone in Union County. He was a member of the local UMWA, he retired after 29 years wit Peabody Coal Company. He also was a retired Lieutenant with the Sturgis Vol. Fire Dept. He worked from 1968 till 1983 as a part-time patrolman with Sturgis Police Dept.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jack & Lillian Foster Stone, half-brother Charles L. Stone and half-sister Martha Adamson.
Survivors include:
Niece Kim Jones (JW) of Morganfield, KY
Nephews Roger Adamson of Morganfield, KY
Eddie Adamson of Morganfield, KY
Larry Adamson (Becky) of Morganfield, KY
Darwin Adamson (Steve Harlan) of Evansville, IN
Steve Stone (June) of Santa Claus, IN
Host of Nieces, nephews, family & friends.
Funeral will be 3PM on Friday September 19, 2025 at the Whitsell funeral Home in Sturgis, KY.
Bro. Jeff Paris will officiate. Visitation will be 1PM until service time at funeral home. Burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis, KY
