Charles David Alvey 72, of Dekoven, KY, passed away October 1st, 2025. David (as most knew him) lived his entire life in and around Union County. He was born to Charles Raymond & Susan (Ray & Sue) Alvey and grew up on a farm just south of Morganfield. He went to Saint Ann School and graduated from Union County High School in 1971. Early on in his life, he found his love for fixing things and helping people. He began by honing his skills on the family farm house and in 1969 he began scraping & painting houses for the people of Union County. From there he went on to building, framing houses, and eventually worked in every type of construction. David became an artisan and an exceptional craftsman. He was well known locally and also shared his talents in other states, as well as Haiti, Mexico, & Europe. Beyond his knowledge and skill, the thing he exemplified most was generosity. Over the years, David was part of many volunteer groups that donated carpentry work and labor for people in need. He was often seen around town mowing the roadsides & overgrown properties. He truly had a heart for helping people and will be remembered as a strait-laced guy, a kind soul, a selfless giver, an amazing father, and an animated storyteller.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond, his mother Susan, and a brother-in-law Joey Wolfe.
He is survived by one son William Andre Alvey (and wife Erika), 3 grandchildren: Hailey, Hannah, & Harper Alvey, and his companion Susan Champion.
He is also survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters; Michael (& Becky) Alvey, Phyllis (& Gary) Wolfe, Paula Wolfe, Bernie (& Martha) Alvey, Rodney (& Patty) Alvey, and Donna Kaye (& Charlie) Wright, along with many nieces & nephews.
A Funeral service and celebration of his life will be held Friday, October 10th at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield at 12 noon with Bro. Dwight Jackson officiating. Burial to follow at St. Ann Cemetery in Morganfield. Visitation will be held Friday October 10 from 10 am until the time of the service.
