Janice Sue Murphy, 77, widow of John Wesley Murphy, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Signature Healthcare of Georgetown. Born April 8, 1946, in Roane County, Tennessee to the late Clarence and Helen Cora Lawson Gaines. Janice worked for Georgetown Cable and as a private caregiver. She was a faithful member of Royal Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Sue Murphy and brother, Ronnie Gaines.
Janice will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Johnny A. "Pete" Murphy, Georgetown, Wesley (Kim) Murphy, Stamping Ground, Daryl Gene (Geobana) Murphy, Lexington, Clarence Luther (Jessica) Murphy, Richmond, daughter, Diane Short, Rusk, TX, brother, Bill Gaines, Georgetown, sisters, Barbara Murphy, Sadieville, Betty Gaines (Ronnie) McKinney, Georgetown, grandchildren, Kristen (Jay) Jakeway, Sara Michelle Murphy, MaKayla Faith Murphy, Taggert Neal Murphy, Joy Nicole (Carlos) Jones, Janie Sue Murphy, Joe Terry Estepp, Kelly Sue Short, Jonathan Wayne (Kylie) Short, Calvin James (Nicole) Short, 26 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, April 12, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Luke Vanhoose officiating, also at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery (Stamping Ground) with reception by Royal Springs Baptist Church following services. Friends and family are encouraged to leave messages of condolence and share memories here on Janice's tribute wall.
