JARED LAYNE HANSEN

Jared Layne Hansen, born April 25, 1980, in Ogden, Utah, tragically died in an aviation accident; he traversed a life defined by resilience and self-discovery. Jared began his childhood and schooling in Kaysville, Utah. His middle school and high school years were spent with his family in South Jordan, Utah, with Jared graduating from Bingham High School in 1998. After Graduation, Jared experienced various jobs while trying to find his niche. He was always self-motivated and a thinker. It was difficult for him to work for someone else. Being self-employed was what made him happy.

Jared was not afraid of a challenge or hard work. He was always the first in line to help others and was a natural peacemaker. People would be hard-pressed to see him angry or disrespectful to anyone. He could bring calm to a storm and was the first one up for fun, adventure, and new experiences.

Fatherhood became Jared's greatest triumph. Jared met Lindsay in 2000 and welcomed his first son, Kaden, in November of 2001. He met Emilee in 2003 and welcomed his second son, Rustin in (2007), and Collin (2011), further enriching his family life and solidifying his commitment to fatherhood.

International responsibilities through work took Jared to Germany, where he met Karen. Karen moved to the United States, and they married in 2012. They combined the families of Jared's 3 boys and Karen's 4 kids (Pepe, Rubi, Emil, and Leon) and raised their families side by side over the last 12 years.

During the last seven years of Jared's life, he found renewed passion as an entrepreneur by founding Rocky Mountain Biewer Terriers (RMBT) with Karen. In addition to dog breeding, they also cared for a collection of farm animals, including horses, pigs, cows, chickens, and goats. Jared's love for animals ran deep.

The success of RMBT allowed Jared to increase his ability to serve in the community as a volunteer firefighter. He completed his academy in June 2021.

Jared always had a dream to fly. Jared received his pilot's license in 2021, and Karen recently received hers in 2023. Jared completed his instrument flight training in September 2023. A pilot license allowed Jared to deliver biewer terrier puppies to their new owners all over the western United States. So many lives have been blessed because of their dogs, and a little piece of Jared is everywhere.

Jared is survived by his three sons, Kaden, Rustin, and Collin; parents, David and Kay Hansen; siblings Bryon, Jamie (Nate) Rothe; brother-in-law Mike Sampson; sister-in-law Nicole Hansen; mothers of Jared’s boys Lindsey Parkerson and Emilee Gornik, as well as 4 nieces and 7 nephews.

Jared was preceded in death by his beloved older sister Lynne and older brother Doug; Grandpa Richard Hansen; Grandparents LaMont and LaVona Wakely; and Aunt Robyn Grable.

Jared will be honored on January 23rd from 11am-1pm at the Elks Lodge in Cortez, Colorado at 2100 North Dolores Road, Cortez, CO 81321. His life will also be celebrated in Utah on January 26th from 11am-1pm, at Jordan Heights Chapel located at 4021 Shinnerock Dr, South Jordan, UT 84009.
