Jeffery Joe Burns

Jeffery Joe Burns, age 58, died March 10, 2024 at home in Altoona, Iowa. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Tuesday, October 29th at 1pm. The cemetery is located at 1 Northwest 60th Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa. The service will take place at the Crucifixion Columbarium, under a green canopy.
Jeff is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Bandstra; uncle, Walter Reed, III; grandchildren, Hayden, Marissa, Mackenna and Hunter; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard K Burns; son, Brandon Pollock; brother, Rich Burns; grandparents, Walter Jr. and Mary Reed and Rex and Elizabeth Burns; aunt, Dixie Reed and stepfather, George Bandstra.
Jeff graduated from Ankeny High School. He was an electrician and a member of IBEW 347. His joy was his mobile home at Lazy Daz Ranch in Melrose, Iowa near Lake Rathbun. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, boating and hunting. Jeff loved his dogs and referred to them as his "girls". Jeff worked hard and played hard. His message on his cell phone for many years was: "You know what to do, now do it!"
Memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Des Moines in Jeff's name.
Jeff, you will be missed. Your back pain is no more!
