KERNERSVILLE – Jimmy Dale Hill, 71, passed away October 19, 2022 at home watching his favorite TV show a good old cowboy movie. Jimmy was born on August 29, 1951 to Ted Brown & Annie Lee Hill in Davidson County. He was a proud graduate of the 1969 class of North Davidson High School. He graduated from High Point University with a BS in Business & Economics. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving his country during the Vietnam War as the base photographer at the Norfolk Naval Station & as a communications seaman on the teeny tiny island of Diego Garcia. After his military duty, he continued his employment at the Winston-Salem Journal & Sentinel as a master printer in the composing department. In the fall of 1975, he found the girl of his dreams, Deborah (Debbie) Gail Pope, at the coat rack on the third floor of the newspaper. After a short time of dating, on February 14, 1976, he asked her to become his wife. They became an official couple on August 28, 1976. After two years of apartment living & then investing in a condominium in W-S, they built a home in the community of Sedge Garden on the outskirts of Kernersville. In 1984, they added Joshua Dale Hill (10/1/84-8/29/20) to the family and Tyler Pope Hill (3/26/87-7/14/07).
Jimmy was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church and was an active Cub / Boy Scout Leader for many years. His happiest moments were spending time with his family and friends. Jimmy NEVER met a stranger. He was easy to love because of his obsession of talking to everybody and their brother. He was a people person!
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his two sons, Joshua Hill and Tyler Hill.
Surviving are his wife of over 46 years, Debbie Hill; one brother, Ted Hill, Jr.; a sister, Sandi Hill (Larry); a niece, Teressa Johnson (David); great nieces, Rachel and Lily Crotts; a great nephew, Landon Crotts; and a host of special friends.
Per Jimmy's request, there will be no formal service. We plan to celebrate him at his favorite watering hole – date to be announced! He was a man with a huge heart for family and friends. It would please him for everyone to get together with their loved ones on their own time and celebrate him as he would celebrate with you.
In lieu of flowers, Jimmy requested memorials to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

October 22, 2022

Debbie, we are so sorry for the loss Jimmy. He was a people person always kind and would make point to speak to you if you seen him out. I remember years ago, aunt faye Manuel, Jill Roberts and me had a yard sale at aunt Fayes house and you and Jimmy stopped by just to chit chat and eat a good ole hotdog. I remember it so good because Jimmy had us cracking up the whole time he was there. Always enjoyed seeing him out and talking to him. He has to be on cloud 9 now rejoicing with y'all's sons and love ones in heaven! Prayers being sent to you. Love you Tammy Blevins
