On Saturday morning, August 31, 2024, God sent His heavenly angels down to Earth to relieve
JoAnne Rodriguez Foster of all her pain and take her to her new home in heaven.
JoAnne was born on September 16, 1960, in New York City to her parents the late Joseph
(Gus) and Vivian Rodriguez. She was their only child and the "Apple of their Eyes." She was
especially a daddy's girl. The Rodriquez family resided in Washington Heights, New York, a
neighborhood in the northern part of the borough of Manhattan in New York City.
JoAnne grew up in an urban neighborhood and attended catholic school from elementary
through high school. She often shared fond memories of her childhood experience going to
Puerto Rico with her parents during their annual summer vacations to visit with family and
friends.
JoAnne received Christ as her personal Savior at an early age through the catholic faith. She
displayed her faith to those who had the privilege of knowing her and to those she met on
random occasions. Joanne would often have conversations with people she did not know
personally but would engage them in offering assistance or providing them with a kind word of
inspiration.
JoAnne had a beautiful spirit and was known as a social butterfly, especially in high school. It
was there she honed in on her ability to mingle with diverse groups of people. This characteristic
proved beneficial for JoAnne in her career for it enabled her to work amicably with all people
from various walks of life.
JoAnne attended Aquinas High School, a private, Roman Catholic high school in the Belmont
section of the Bronx, New York. JoAnne graduated from Aquinas in June of 1978 receiving her
H.S. Regents diploma, the "Perfect Attendance and Punctuality Award" and a New York State
Scholarship for college.
Joanne attended The College of Mount Saint Vincent located in Bronx County and graduated in
1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She chose to further her
education in the field of business and in 1986 she received a Master of Science degree in
Business Administration from Manhattan College, also located in Bronx, NY.
JoAnne worked at Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP), a company that provides human
resources management, software, and payroll services. JoAnne held several positions while
working at ADP: a Teller Data Operator, a Teller Data Operator Supervisor, a New Account
Coordinator and a Tax Service and Banking Coordinator. As an ADP employee she worked in
several regions: New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia. After 33 years of service
JoAnne eventually retired from ADP in June of 2017.
While working at ADP, JoAnne met the love of her life, Anthony Foster. Anthony and JoAnne
were mutual acquaintances for one year and began dating each other for three years. With
approval from her father, affectionately known as "Daddy Gus", Anthony, JoAnne's suitor passed
with "flying colors." On February 22, 1992, JoAnne and Anthony married. As a married couple
they resided in New York, Virginia, and eventually settled in Florida. The love they shared with
one another was evident and visible to all. The couple enjoyed traveling and loved cruising with
family and friends.
JoAnne was always concerned about the welfare of others and did not want anyone to worry
about her. After retiring from the workforce, JoAnne became her mother's primary caregiver.
She provided her mother, Vivian, with loving care until she passed away in January of 2023.
Being involved with others, especially her family and friends meant the world to JoAnne.
JoAnne loved traveling and visiting with relatives, but she truly loved hosting for her love ones.
The hospitality exhibited by JoAnne and Anthony was beyond what one could imagine. JoAnne
always welcomed guests and made them feel comfortable in her home which was affectionately
called "The Foster Resort." Whether you participated in swimming pool fun, or eating tasty grill
lit food, or just simply engaging in morning time, noon time, or late evening "good" talk, JoAnne
made sure her guests had lots of backyard fun! She opened her home to all and her niece and
nephew always felt comfortable visiting "The Foster Resort" independently with their friends.
Being the caring person she was, JoAnne did not want to worry her family and friends about her
medical condition for when she chose to disclose her initial diagnosis of uterine cancer, she
stated that her disease was in its early stage. However, as was shared upon her unexpected
passing, JoAnne was battling stage four uterine cancer. JoAnne did not want others to worry
about her. At the time of her diagnosis, she asked her husband Anthony not to reveal her true
diagnosis. To that end many were shocked by what was considered her unexpected passing for
she always looked well.
JoAnne may be gone from us physically, but she will always be a whisper, a touch, or a heartfelt
memory in our hearts and minds forever. We loved her, but God loved her best and now she is
resting in his eternal arms of love. There with the Lord there is no more sickness, no more pain,
or sorrow for God has provided her with sweet rest......
JoAnne will forever be remembered by her loving husband of 32 years, Anthony Foster; her
father-in-law, Arthur Foster (Katherine); her uncle, John Allende; her sister-in-law, Pamela Blue-
Webb (Joseph); her niece, Preondra; her nephew, Joseph; her Big Sis, Tamara Coleman
(special friend); her Little Sis, Dori Aviles (special cousin) and a host of cousins and friends.
