Joe Andrew Baskins

Joe Andrew Baskins, 81, of Wynne, Arkansas, died Friday, July 12, 2024, in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Joe was born on February 24, 1943, in Cross County to Will Baskins and Lottie Dobing Baskins. Joe married Charlotte Farmer Baskins in 1965. She survives him along with three daughters, Monica Baskins Peterson and husband John Paul of Wynne, Beth Baskins Tunnell and husband Mike of Little Rock, Sharis Baskins Lewis and husband Larry of Wynne, two sons, Kyle Baskins and wife Tanya, Kevin Baskins and wife Kim both of Wynne. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Megan Miller and husband Bradley, Kelsi Peterson, Dylan Baskins, Benton Baskins, Morgan Hink and husband Jake, Allie Trail and husband Will, Ty South, Landon Lewis, Halle Lewis, Ashlyn Tunnell, Blaine Baskins, Colby Baskins, and seven great grandchildren, Wyatt Miller, Emry Miller, Logan Baskins, Eli Trail, Miles Trail, Savannah Hink and Ansley Baskins. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
Joe was a lifelong Yellowjacket and avid fan. He truly believed and was a true example of "Once a Jacket, Always a Jacket". Joe played football for the Yellowjackets from Junior High through his senior year and won "KWYN Outstanding Senior award in 1961". He was known as "Rufus" to his teammates. He loved to watch the Wynne Yellowjackets football team, and you would often find him sitting in the stands under the Friday night lights. Joe worked as a mechanic for Murray Chevrolet for 29 years, and then went on to manage the Phillips 66 gas station and owned and operated Baskins Service Center with Kyle until he retired in 2015. He always made time to watch his kids and grandkids play sports.
A memorial service for Joe will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Wynne Church of Christ at 11 AM with Rev. Fred Strasser officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until service time. A private burial will be held later.
