Jon Randall Smith, 61, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away on February 11, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on February 4, 1963 in Lafayette, Indiana to Jon Allan and Jane K. (Fultz) Smith. He was one of five children of the Smith family. Jon was a graduate of Jefferson High School and we went on to receive his Associates Degree in Accounting at IVY Tech in Lafayette. Jon met and married the love of his life, Kathleen Lods and were married in Lafayette in 1992. He held various positions around the household and Jon always liked to know how things worked and how to fix them. You could often find him viewing how-to videos off on YouTube. His son, Joel, lovingly called him a "lifelong learner". Expanding his environment and his mind as well as sharing his experiences with others. A hard worker, Jon had various careers in his lifetime-he worked for the Journal & Courier for 10 years, as manager, delivering the daily newspapers, then he was employed with People's Welding Supply from 1992 to 2013. Then in 2013 he worked at L&H Industrial Supply until the present. Jon & Kathleen are devote members of St. Ann's Catholic Church & Shrine, a lover of music, especially Christian rock music. He also loved to take short little trips away from home to go exploring and discover history. But he especially loved going to visit the grandchildren. A State Park visit was ideal for relaxing. He enjoyed flying his drone but his ultimate joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. Jon will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, and dear friend. Jon is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Smith of Lafayette, IN, parents, Jon Allan &; Jane K. (Fultz) Smith, step-daughter, Amanda Held (Dustin) of Davenport, FL., son, Joshua Smith of Lafayette, IN., step-son, David Kasper with Lauren of Michigan City, IN., son, Shawn Smith of Lafayette, IN., daughter Mary Titus (Tyler) of Indianapolis, IN., son, Joel Smith of Lafayette, IN., son, Simon Smith of Lafayette, IN.
