Born on June 19, 1929, in Magdalena, New Mexico, Julia's journey through life was marked by her unwavering kindness, courage, and the profound love she had for her family. She was a treasured matriarch whose legacy of warmth and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Raised in the vibrant community of Los Angeles, California, Julia's early years were filled with the joy of learning and discovery. It was during her high school years that she encountered Ben Hamud, the love of her life, at his parents' market. Their connection was undeniable, and it did not take long for the couple to realize they were meant to be together. They married soon after and went on to celebrate twenty-one beautiful years of marriage. When Ben passed away unexpectedly, Julia faced the challenge of raising their children alone with remarkable resilience and grace.
Julia dedicated her life to her family, creating a warm and loving home for her five children. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Judi Hall, Marsha and her husband Tom San Paolo, and Elizabeth Popejoy; her caring sons, Harold and his wife Salma Hamud, and Edward and his wife Leslie Hamud. Her legacy also includes twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
As a homemaker, Julia's days were filled with the laughter of children and the aroma of her delicious cooking. She was the heart of every family gathering, ensuring no one ever left her home without feeling full and cherished. Her culinary skills were only matched by her artistic talents. Julia was an accomplished artist, creating beautiful drawings and paintings that reflected the beauty she saw in the world.
