Kenneth Matherne

Kenneth Joseph Matherne, age 76, died peacefully at home on June 8, 2022 surrounded by family.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, Bayou Blue, from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. The burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Houma.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda Breaux Matherne; son, Rodney Matherne; daughter, Jody Matherne Ward; brothers, Gary and Thomas Matherne; sisters, Mary Ellen Mckee, Nancy LeBouef, Margie Yerena and Suzanne Kitchens; grandchildren, Ryan Paul Matherne, Jake Ryan Ward, Brianna Claire Ward; great-grandchildren, Rylan Paul Matherne, Camrynn Claire Matherne and Ridge Paul-Adam Matherne.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Marie Matherne; brothers Anthony "Tony" Matherne, Phillip "Jimmy" Matherne, Floyd Matherne and Johnny Matherne.
Kenneth was born in Houma Louisiana on August 28, 1945. At the age of 20 he married the love of his life, Hilda Breaux and they recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Together they built a wonderful life and family that included 2 children, 3 grand children and 3 great grand children.
Kenneth was a hard working dedicated man who worked for T. Baker Smith for 44 years before retiring. He was a friendly caring man who never met a stranger.
Kenneth enjoyed a simple life and through his actions he set a great example of what a man, husband and father should be. He will be deeply missed by so many.
