Kevin Nelson Jackson was born on January 18, 1957 in
New Haven, Connecticut to the late Thelma E. Jackson and LaMotte D. Jackson. During his early years, he resided in the Newhallville community. He later moved to Cromwell, CT prior to moving to New Jersey. As a youngster, Kevin attended the former Abraham Lincoln School, Lincoln-Bassett School and St. John the Baptist School. Kevin was a basketball star bringing his school and The DCYS to several championships. He was active in community sports playing for Walter Pop Smith and the Albie Booth Midget Football programs. Upon graduation from St. John's, he began his high school career at Notre Dame in West Haven, CT to honor his late grandfather's request. He later transferred to and graduated from Wilbur Cross High School.
During his years at Wilbur Cross, Kevin played basketball and attended the Ulysses S. Grant Foundation-Yale University Summer Program. After graduating from high school, Kevin was accepted to Cheyney University in Pennsylvania.
Kevin began employment at Yale New Haven Hospital as a Medical Claims Collector which he held for several years. He relocated to
Edison, NJ and later
Fords, NJ. Upon moving, he was employed by Sa-Vit Enterprises, Inc. He was a dedicated employee for 30 years serving in various capacities as a Certified Collector and Accounts Receivables Team Leader in Medical Collections. Kevin was involved with training and supervising employees. Kevin took great pride in his work and was well thought of by the staff and clients alike. While the task of collecting outstanding debts was a challenging one, he was respected by the customers he served. During his tenure, he received the following awards; High Collector of the Month, Special Achievement for Collections, Outstanding Achievement in Collections and Exceptional Achievement Awards.
Kevin was a loyal and devoted fan of the Baltimore Ravens football team. His love for the Ravens paired well with the joy he found in gathering with good friends, having good food (especially seafood) which he prepared and listening to good music. Kevin loved music; Soul, R&B and Gospel were among his favorites. Kevin not only loved listening to music he also enjoyed singing, especially Karaoke. While not formally trained, Kevin was also skilled at repairing televisions, radios and household appliances. He was the family "Mr. Fix It''.
During his early years, Mr. Jackson attended St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. He was a faithful acolyte, reader and member of the youth group activities. He participated in holiday and church sporting events.
Kevin Nelson Jackson went to his eternal home on Friday, December 30, 2022. He is survived by his daughter, Kia Levey Burden (David)
