Kim D. (Foster) LeHew, 56, of Brimfield, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at her home. She was born on November 30, 1965, in Peoria to William "Bill" and Carol (Schulthes) Foster. She married her best friend and love of her life, Rick A. LeHew, on September 19, 1998, at Weaver Ridge Golf Club in Peoria; he survives.
Kim took great pride in and loved being the mother of her daughter, Zofia, who survives, along with her sister, Janis (Dean) Waite-Hayden of Elmwood; and her brother, Tim (Jackie) Foster of Trivoli. Kim loved her family and always looked forward to their time together.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Kim graduated from Elmwood High School Class of 1983, then earned a degree from Illinois State University. She began working for Cullinan Properties as an administrative assistant on June 1, 1995 and last worked in commercial real estate.
Kim was known for her beautiful smile and positive attitude. She was a true leader in the community. In 2012, she chaired Wines & Polo on the Prairie for Easter Seals. For all who knew her, Kim was an inspiration of strength and kindness. She was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in 2015, which later progressed to stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Throughout her courageous battle, enduring countless treatments and 5 brain surgeries, Kim never lost her will to fight and continued to remain active in the community. In 2016 she served as the President of the Board of Directors for the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce, while also receiving the 25 Women in Leadership Award. The following year, she received the Cullinan Spirit of Hope Award from Hult Center.
In 2017, she started Kim's Kommandos, a fundraising team for breast cancer awareness, whose motto was 'Be Fierce.' That year, she was also named chairwoman of Susan G. Komen's More Than Pink Walk; a position she held for three years.
Kim's family invites you to join them in celebrating her life on Sunday, January 9, 2022, from 4-7 PM, with a time of reflection at 7 PM, at Weaver Ridge Golf Club in Peoria. Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
To continue Kim's fight against cancer, the family has requested, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Kim's Kommandos c/o Susan G. Komen, 900 Main Street, Ste 160, Peoria, IL 61602. Online condolences may be left at www.GaryDeitersFH.com.
