In Loving Memory of Levon Sarkissian
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Levon Sarkissian, who left this world on Friday, Februrary 2, 2024. Levon is survived by his devoted wife, Hasmig, and his cherished children, Sanasar, Bagdasar, Garabed, and Mary. His memory lives on in the hearts of his daughter-in-laws, Alicia and Christina, and his son-in-law, Matteo. Levon also leaves behind a legacy in his adoring grandchildren, Levon, Isabella, Collin, and soon-to-be-born Matthias.
Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Levon faced the challenges of life head-on. At the height of the Iraqi conflict, he made the difficult decision to leave his homeland and the military, embarking on a journey with his mother, Mary, to seek a better life in America.
In 1982, fate led Levon to Queens, where he met his Armenian princess, Hasmig. Within three months, they exchanged vows, marking the beginning of a love story that would last a lifetime. With determination and a heart full of love, Levon worked tirelessly to build a better future for his growing family.
Levon's life was a testament to hard work and resilience. During his 31-year tenure at Chase Manhattan, he not only excelled in his career but also formed lasting bonds with colleagues who became an extended family. His commitment to both work and family was unwavering.
A true patriarch, Levon welcomed his children into the world and provided them with a loving home. He purchased his first home and witnessed the joyous arrivals of Sanasar in 1983, followed by Bagdasar and Garabed in the subsequent years. In 1992, Levon celebrated the final addition to his family, his beloved princess Mary.
Levon's ambition and dedication led him to explore new opportunities in real estate, venturing into Brooklyn and eventually settling in Teaneck, New Jersey, for enhanced educational prospects for his children. In 2006, after 31 years of dedicated service, Levon retired, allowing him to devote more time to his family and the love of his life, Hasmig.
Over the past 15 years, Levon embraced retirement with gusto, balancing family care, business ventures, and fulfilling his passion for travel alongside Hasmig. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his impact on the lives of his family and friends will be everlasting.
Levon Sarkissian, a loving husband, devoted father, and doting grandfather, will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the love, strength, and resilience he brought to all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you please make a donation in Levon's name to the American Cancer Society: https://donate.cancer.org/
