Mary M. Richardson

Mary Margaret (O'Connor) Richardson, 89, passed away on October 13, 2023. She was the wife of John Steele Richardson for 58 years. She was the daughter of Patrick J. O'Connor and Anna F. (Donahue) O'Connor. Her brothers were Joseph and Cornelieus O'Connor. Mrs. Richardson was born and raised in Worcester, MA where she attended Worcester schools until graduating from Commerce High School in 1952. After high school, she worked at The Telegram and Gazette and Heald Machine.
Mary was an excellent swimmer and was a member of the Worcester Aquamaids Swim team. After moving to Falmouth in 1984, she worked as a cafeteria manager at Morse Pond School and was a supervisor for the Falmouth Beach Department at Old Silver Beach for 25 years.
Mrs. Richardson and her husband enjoyed vacationing in Florida and South Carolina. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, often going to several of their school and sporting events.
Survivors include her children, Kim Cullen and her husband, Todd of Estero, FL; Mary Jo Ball and her husband, Patrick, of Mashpee, MA; and John P. Richardson and his wife, Kimberly of Jacksonville, Fl; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl R. Eder who passed away in 2019.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 9:30am to 10:30am at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151), in Mashpee. A Funeral Mass will follow at Christ the King Church St. Jude's Chapel, 3 Job's Fishing Rd., in Mashpee at 11AM. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne at 12:30pm.
