Funeral services were held for Millicent “Mickye” Duhon on Monday, December 18, 2023, who passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Mickye was 88 at the time of her death.
Father David Hebert, Pastor at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, officiated the ceremony in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home. Interment was held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mickye is survived by two daughters, Lydia Hargrave and her husband Burt, and Dana Duhon; two sons, Steven “Jud” Duhon and his wife Debbie, and Tim Duhon and his wife Allyson; one sister Dodye Clement of Sulphur, LA; eight grandchildren, Travis Hargrave, Joshua Hargrave, Aaron Hargrave, Erica Forest, Steven Ross Duhon, Monica Johnson, Monty Johnson, and Taylor Duhon; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Steven Joseph Duhon; and her parents, Elma Mae and Taylor G. Daspit.
A native of Sulphur, LA, Mickye lived in Lafayette for 67 years. She worked for the Lafayette Parish School Board as a teacher at Acadian Elementary School.
Mickye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She loved time with her family, and she was truly loved by all.
The family would like to extend thanks and gratitude to Beatrice Collins, and caregivers April, Jeanette, and Virginia who extended exceptional care for Mickye in her time of need.
Pallbearers were Taylor Duhon, Rawlin Johnson, Aaron Hargrave, Travis Hargrave, Steven Ross Duhon, and Billy Forest.
Musical selections were performed by Jodi Bollich.
