Paul Todd Laun, 73, passed away of cancer on Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Sheboygan. He was the son of the late Donald and Marie (Johnson) Laun. Paul attended Elkhart Lake and Kiel Grade Schools, St. John's Military Academy, Ojai Valley School in Ojai, California, and graduated from Kiel High School. He was employed at Siebken's Resort in Elkhart Lake, Lennox Candle Company, the Pioneer Inn in Oshkosh and the A. A. Laun Furniture Company in Kiel. Paul loved living on Elkhart Lake for 56 years.
Paul loved fireworks. He also enjoyed McDonald's and Vietnamese food at Pho VN. Paul was also an avid photographer and painter. Paul loved his cousins, Jack and Cecilia Zarate-Laun. He especially loved learning about Colombia from them. Cecilia even got him to dress up as Santa one Christmas. Paul loved Shakespeare. Two of his favorite quotations from him were, "For there is nothing either bad or good, but thinking makes it so." and "This above all: to thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man."
People who figured prominently in Paul's life were Betsy Laun Maalouf and Maya Maalouf, Lucielle Thiessen, Lucy and Ian Rawson, Andrew Rawson, Steven Goldsholl, Margaret Laun Afton, Bill and Kitty Laun, Jon and Paula Laun, Bernice Clark, Katherine Brotz, Susan Strecker, Fred Kohler, Dr. Charles Seifert and Sylvia Seifert, Jim and Pat Prigge, Mrs. Taggart (A Spanish teacher at Ojai Valley School), John and Ruth Laun, Hank Lauson, Helen, Art, and Kaz Long, Tim Laun, Norm and Chris Littig, Maiena Zarate, Dr. Douglas Deeley, Terry and Nancy Doolan, Eilene Ribbens, Claire Turck, Harold and Magi Laun, Wendy Rieder, Nancy and Ernie Groth, Jimi Hendrix, Chris Duewel and Ed Zahniser, Ollie Siebken Moeller (who he called "Jolly Ollie"), Albert Laun, Sue and Al Laun, George and Tom Hurst, John and Marissa Afton, Peter Laun, Jean and Ray Evers, Emma Gartzke, Fred and Somporn Laun, Bev Gumm, Tina and Goran Mansson-Paulsson, Diane Afton Aeschliman and Tony, Janna Paulsson, Dale and Sherry Colberg, David Koren, Diana Peterson, Theodore Bikel, Megan and Brian Boettcher, Rev. Aubree-Lynn, Nurse Paula, Connie Nelson, Margaret Haas, Frank Zappa, Arthur, Mary and Eena Hayssen, Robert Abrashinsky, Bobby and Stephen Libke, Chuck Pritchard, Philip Schroeder, Tommy Martineu, Margaret Parry, Dr. Josephiasa Hizon, Dr. Rodrigo Munoz, Dr. Jochimsen, his cousins, Rudy and Mike Johnson and James Quall.
He is survived by Lynda, his loving sister and his many loving cousins.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home (805 6th Street, Kiel) with Rev. Aubree-Lynn officiating.
Memorial donations may be made in Paul's name to either: National Alliance on Mental Illness (414 Atlas Avenue Madison, WI 53714) or Unity Spiritual Center (2409 N. 8th Street Sheboygan, WI 53083)

So sorry for your loss, Linda, You were truly "your brother´s keeper." I thought the funeral was today. My son is in town, and he would have taken me. Unfortunately, we missed it by one day.
