Raymond (Ray) Gentry was born on April 19, 1948 to his parents, Hubert and Lucille Gentry. He succumbed to his long ailing heart and passed away suddenly on October 21, 2021.
He served proudly for 28 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant. Raymond then went on to work for and subsequently retire from the Unites States Postal Service. Upon retirement, Raymond enjoyed spending his time at the beach, fishing, and playing with his dogs. He thrived on living life as a free bird, and as such, he lived and died, more or less on his own terms doing something else he loved, which was going to Walmart.
In lieu of years of dedicated service to our country and the federal government, I believe that he was by far the proudest of his time spent as a father and loving husband.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Lucille Gentry; two brothers, John "Mike" Gentry and David Gentry; and one sister, Joyce Ricker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ursula Gentry of Navarre; two sons, Patrick Gentry of Navarre and Ray Gentry of Milton; two brothers, Albert Gentry of Pensacola and Hubert "Butch" Gentry of Alabama; three grandchildren, Sashia Gentry of Milton, Emily Gentry and Ayden Maxwell, both in the U.S. Navy; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
A visitation for Raymond will be held on November 12, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. immediately followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 p.m. All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Trahan Family Funeral Home, located at 60 Industrial Blvd, in Pensacola, Florida.
