Richard "Richie" Jackson III was born on August 10, 1948, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, the beloved son of the late Richard C. Jackson II and Cornelia Barbour Jackson.
At the age of 20, Richie moved to Chicago, Illinois to pursue his dreams in the big city. It was there he built a fulfilling life and career as a dedicated Respiratory Therapist, retiring after more than 30 years of service in the medical field.
Early in his career, Richie discovered a profound passion for photography, particularly photojournalism. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography at the University of Columbia College and found great joy in capturing the world around him through his lens. He often said the most rewarding part of photography was offering others a glimpse into his perspective and the beauty he saw in everyday life.
Richie had a deep appreciation for the arts and was especially fond of jazz music. He was also a devoted sports enthusiast, enjoying college and Olympic-style wrestling, football, and track and field.
Richie is survived by his loving wife, Genevieve Sondo Jackson; his cherished son, Sean Raphael Jackson; and his siblings, Gary (Marion) Jackson, Stephanie Jackson, Candice Jackson, and JoEtta Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Darla Jackson, Raphael Jackson, and Muriel Jackson-Thigpen.
Richard will be remembered for his creativity in photography and his service as a respiratory therapist.
Friends and family will be recieved on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald (724-926-2800). A Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Robinson Run Cemetery.
