Richard (Ric) R. Ramirez, 69, of Houston, Texas at the request of his Lord and Savior has been relocated to Heaven on Monday, January 9, 2023.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on Nov. 4, 1953, and was the son of the late Manual Leopoldo Ramirez, and Enriqueta (Katie) Esquivel Ramirez.
At a young age Ric's family moved to Houston, Texas where he would spend his childhood years and graduate from Jefferson Davis High School. In 1972 he joined the US Air Force where he served for 5 years as a jet engine mechanic, and achieved the rank of staff sergeant. During his time in the Air Force he spent 3 years at Hahn Air Base, Germany, and did two tours of duty to Zaragoza Air Base, Spain. After being discharged he returned to Houston, pursued a career in Technical Drafting and Design Technology, and became proficient with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) techniques. He also achieved a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree and went on to open 2 clinics in the Houston area.
Ric had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He loved spending his spare time researching topics of interest or reading books. He taught himself the piano and was gifted in speaking multiple languages which included Spanish, German and Russian. He enjoyed watching sports, especially soccer, and always looked forward to the World Cup. Ric was also the loving caretaker for his mother, Katie, and sister, Diana during the last years of their life.
The highlight of Ric's life was unquestionably his three sons and three grandsons. He loved spending time with his family and was always quick to show everyone pictures of his "boys." He was so proud of them and his face would light up whenever he talked about them. They truly were his greatest love.
Ric was preceded in death by his father, Manual Leopoldo Ramirez; mother, Enriqueta (Katie) Esquivel Ramirez; brother, Carlos Ramirez and sister, Diana Ramirez.
He is survived by his three sons, Justin Ramirez and his wife, Tara, Dylan Ramirez and Anthony Ramirez; three grandsons, Cruz, Jaxon and Bryce Ramirez. He is also survived by a sister, Priscilla Garcia and brother, George Ramirez, numerous nieces, nephews, and former spouses, Maryann Bowman (mother of Justin) and Karen Ramirez (mother of Dylan and Anthony).
Ric's acceptance of the Lord as his Savior secured his eternal home in Heaven. Our joy is knowing we will see him again someday. We shall remember Ric for his amusing and mischievous sense of humor and celebrate all that was good and blessed in his life. He will be loved and missed by many!
A graveside service for the family will be performed at the Houston Veterans Cemetery.
