Sandra "Sandy" Shuff Chamberlain, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 16,2025. She was 72 years young when she met her Savior face to face, free from all pain and embraced by those who went before her.
Sandy was a devoted Christian whose love for the Lord shined through every aspect of her life. She faithfully served wherever needed at Light Christian Center in Alvin, Texas, and Crosslife Church in El Dorado, Arkansas. A powerful prayer warrior with a tender, compassionate heart, Sandy was always ready with an encouraging word, a genuine compliment, and that radiant smile that reflected the love of Christ within her.
Sandy's zest for life was contagious. She loved to fish-a passion she shared with her father from childhood-and spent countless joyful hours at the family lake house on Lake Sam Rayburn. She cherished traveling with her husband, and one of her greatest adventures was a missionary trip to Africa, where she visited orphanages, supported feeding centers for children, and shared God's love in both Nairobi and Amsterdam. While there, she even fulfilled a lifelong dream of going on a safari through the Maasai lands of Kenya and Tanzania.
In her younger years, Sandy was always up for an adventure-camping, scuba diving, floating down creeks, or heading to the beach with the windows down and a spirited "Yeehaw!" that could make anyone smile. Later in life, she found joy in simple pleasures-traveling, dining out, shopping for treasures, and sampling "a little bit of everything" from the menu. Every outing with her was filled with laughter and fun.
Sandy also took great pride in her appearance. She was always stylish, adorned with bold jewelry, elegant rings, and one of her many beautiful purses. Her favorite perfumes left a soft, memorable trace that lingered long after she'd left the room. Beyond her beauty and grace, she was known for her independence, generosity, and playful spirit. Sandy had a gift for making others feel seen, heard, and loved-and her joyful laughter could fill a room. She was truly one of a kind: a small-town country girl with a touch of uptown flair, a heart full of love, and a faith that never wavered.
Professionally, Sandy's career was as diverse as her interests. She worked as a legal secretary for Barlow and Lacy in Galveston, served as an administrative assistant and technical advisor under contract to NASA, and even spent time as a private investigator, a fact she liked to keep a secret at parties!
Sandy is survived by her devoted husband, Sam; loving daughters Laura Dunn Mangold and Dhana Chamberlain Tater (husband Curtis); son Michael Shane Chamberlain; grandchildren Justine Chapman Stewart (husband Aaron), Jaime Chapman, Abigail Mangold, and Emily Mangold; and great-grandchildren Riley Evelyn Stewart, Liam Chamberlain Stewart, and Jace Alton Stewart. She is also survived by her brother Michael Shuff (wife Jennifer), along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Mamie Shuff of Silsbee, Texas, and her brother, Ronald Edwin Shuff of Alvin, Texas.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to her caregiver, Josefina Tellez of Alvin, Texas; North Star Hospice; members of Light Christian Center; and Pastor Dwain Miller of The Edge Church in Cabot, Arkansas, for their love, care, and prayers during Sandy's final journey.
Sandy's bright light will forever shine in the hearts of those who loved her. Every time we
see a beautiful sunset, we will be reminded of her warmth, her laughter, and the joy she
brought into this world.
