Sally Ann Henson was born in Flint, Michigan on January 13, 1956, to the late Willis and Sally Lou Cronkright. She was the youngest of three girls. She passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2022.
Sally loved to share stories of her youth. She would tell stories of the fun and mischief she would always get into. She loved to help her father fix things she described herself as the son he never had.
In her late 20s she met the love of her life Paul Henson Sr. while working at a diner in Port Huron, Michigan. He would come in to see her and have dinner while he was on a layover for the railroad in Port Huron. They fell madly in love and he moved her down to Hazel Park, Michigan where they were married on August 9, 1986. A little over a year later they welcomed their daughter Courtney into the world. Sally loved her daughter greatly and they had lots of fun together, especially rearranging the furniture while Paul was away on hunting trips.
Sally loved art, photography, gardening, sewing, painting rocks, and many other hobbies. She held many different jobs over the years. She wasn't afraid to try anything that sounded fun. She could light up anyone's day with her friendly, caring personality. She was a generous and loving woman that her neighbors, friends, and family loved immensely. She loved her daily conversations with her daughter Courtney and niece Shelly on their commutes to and from work. On these calls they'd laugh, she'd offer calming words when they would get angry at traffic and share their hopes and dreams for the future. She loved to hear stories about her grandchildren and loved the photos and videos they would share.
Over the past 15 years of her life she devoted her time to caring for Paul as he battled COPD and other health issues. She made it her mission to make him as happy and comfortable as she could for as long as possible. Her heart broke when she lost him in October 2021. After his passing she struggled greatly with her broken heart. On good days she loved to visit her grandchildren Kai and Lotus and laugh and play.
She left the world without warning, with planned adventures never gone on. Her passing has broken many hearts. She will be missed greatly by all that knew her. She leaves behind a daughter Courtney and Matthew Wagner, stepson Paul and Nancy Henson Jr., grandchildren Kai and Lotus Wagner, Hunter Henson, and Elizabeth and James Andrews, great grandchildren Faith and Luke Andrews, sister Debbie and Kim Matthews, stepmom Dottie Cronkright, and nieces and nephews Shelly Lonsby, Angie and Kelly Lademer, Kim and Lisa Matthews II, Ron Hartzel, and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister Cindy Kellaway and parents Willis and Sally Cronkright.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 15th from 2 - 8:00 pm and Sunday, January 16th from noon until the time of the service 2:00 pm at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Road (4 blocks E of Woodward), Royal Oak. The funeral service will be available via livestream a few minutes prior to the service.
