Timothy J. Griffin, 74, of Tunkhannock passed away on March 12, 2023. He was born in New Brunswick, NJ and he is the son of the late William Griffin, Sr., and Josephine Kane Griffin. Tim was married to the former Patricia Fries on July 17, 1976.
Tim graduated from St. Agnes High School, Mansfield University, and the University of Scranton. He was an advanced math teacher at the Tunkhannock Middle School until his retirement in 1999. Through his younger years, he could be found bartending at the Warren Hotel or playing bass guitar in the band "The Lovin' Kynde." Tim also held the office of president for several years with the Wyoming County School Employees Federal Credit Union.
As everyone knows, Tim knew his way around the dollar bill and had a keen expertise for crunching numbers. With these skills he successfully operated his used car dealership Griffin's Auto Sales, for nearly 40 years. He had a knack for wheeling and dealing, it was his drive in life. His generosity and compassion were known by everyone he encountered.
In addition to his parents Tim is preceded in death by his brother Dr. Michael Griffin, brother-in-laws Harry, Joseph, and Ronald Fries, and a sister-in-law Sue Ruda.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Darrin Griffin (Ruth Cook) daughters; Heather Pries (Kristopher), Dr. Kristin Griffin/McKennas (Joseph, Jr.) grandchildren; Garrett, Addison, Kharyn Griffin, Jaylin, Brodryk, Koltyn McKennas, sisters; Joellen Kule (David), Colette Romano (Anthony), brother William E. Griffin, Jr., sister-in-laws; Laura Griffin, Sally Murray (James) and Helen Fries, brother-in-law Douglas Fries (Patsy), as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. He also had close friends, too numerous to mention, that were considered family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 7pm from the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home 123 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock with Pastor John Shaffer officiating. A visitation will be held from 5pm until the time of the service. For online condolences or directions visit www.aplitwinfuneralhomes.com
