Vickie Jean Black

Vickie Jean Turner Black, 67, of Sulphur passed peacefully on September 2, 2023 in a local hospital. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a great sister. She loved her family, friends and co-workers and will be greatly missed by all. Vickie worked for 40 years as an LPN in Quality Management for Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital. She was so full of life and was always game for fun and exploring new adventures. She had a big heart and strived to make everyone she met feel loved and welcome. She was the anchor and rock of her family. Vickie was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sulphur.
Vickie is survived by her husband, Garland Black; two sons, Steven Black and wife Crystal and Jacob Black; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Shirley Meade and Carol Kruse and husband Paul; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Lesley Turner; mother, Maxine McKinnie; sister, Judith Pickard; and brother, Larry Turner.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date to celebrate the life of Vickie. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.
