St. Albans – Virginia "Ginny" Wiley Bowles went home to her Lord on Tuesday December 27, 2023, with her family at her side.
Ginny was born on September 23, 1925, in St. Albans, to the late Harold and Gertrude (Bashaw) Wiley.
Ginny was a lifelong resident of St. Albans. In her younger years she was a secretary for Dr. Cushman as well as at the Vermont Railroad. A woman driven by faith and her family led her to be an active member at St. Paul's Methodist Church her entire life as well as the St. Albans Historical Society and the Franklin County Senior Center. In later years she enjoyed her church family and close friends at the Senior Center that grew to be family. Ginny loved the simplicity of mother nature's beautiful flowers and blue sky. She always saw the beauty in everything.
Ginny leaves behind her son in-law; John L. Fournier (Anne Vaillancourt) of Berkshire, her granddaughter; Shelley Robtoy (Shawn) of Swanton, grandson; Adam Fournier (Meghan) of Swanton, great grandchildren; Tyler Robtoy and Sarah Robtoy.
Along with her parents, Ginny was predeceased by her husband; Lloyd Bowles in 1989, her beloved daughter; Bonnie Jean Fournier in 2018, her siblings Marjorie Fortin and husband Herbert, Elizabeth Hart and husband Brad, and brother Julius Carlisle Wiley and wife Peggy.
Every single day she said how lucky she was to have such good family and friends. She knew how much she was loved and loved everyone back even more. She was always just so grateful.
Her family would like to extend their gratitude to her loving church family at St. Paul's, neighbors at Howard Estates, and dear Senior Center friends who watched over her and kept her active and social regularly. Ginny's family is so thankful for the love, support and friendship of so many people in her life but especially to Dick and Sally Pepin who loved her as family and were always there for her and us. Also we cannot thank the staff at The Villa enough for their wonderful care for Ginny this past month. God puts people in our lives for a reason. The staff there made her last month as peaceful and loving as we could have ever hoped for.
Gifts in Ginny's name may be made to St. Paul's Methodist Church, 11 Church Street, St. Albans VT, or the Franklin County Senior Center, 75 Messenger Street, St. Albans VT, 05478.
Ginny's family will receive family and friends on Thursday, January 4, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans, VT.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Methodist Church, 11 Church Street, St. Albans VT.
Honored to be serving the family of Virginia W. Bowles, is Casey McNally of the Heald Funeral Home, where messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
