William "Willy" Kanyo
Standish, Michigan

William "Willy" Kanyo, a man of kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness, passed away peacefully at his home in Standish, Michigan, on April 26, 2024. Born on December 27, 1953, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Stephen and Lila (Overly) Kanyo, Willy was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew him.
Willy's life was one of dedication and love. He married the love of his life, Marsha Ouillette, on November 2, 1974, in Gladwin, Michigan. Together, they built a family founded on strong values and unconditional support. Willy was a proud father to his three sons, Thomas (Tawnya) Kanyo, Jamie Kanyo, and Chad (Olivia) Kanyo. His joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Alexandra (Jacob) Finlan, Spencer, Logan, and Sydney, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.
He is survived by his brother, Steve (Darlene) Kanyo, and was preceded in death by his brothers, Stash Kanyo and Bobby Kanyo. Willy's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Willy's work as a construction laborer for Local 1098 was not just a job but a source of pride. He was respected by his colleagues for his strong work ethic and his ability to bring warmth and camaraderie to any project. His contributions to the community through his work are imprinted on the structures that stand as a testament to his skill and dedication.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Willy found solace and joy in camping, fishing, and deer hunting. His passion for nature was infectious, and he often shared this love with his family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Those who knew Willy would describe him as a kind soul, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His generosity knew no bounds, and his thoughtful nature made him a cherished friend, neighbor, and confidant.
Willy's life will be honored in a private ceremony, surrounded by his loving family and close friends. As we reflect on his journey, we take comfort in knowing that his story is not one of an end but a beautiful chapter in the eternal book of life. Rest in peace, dear Willy. Your memory will live on in the lives you touched.
