Phyllis J. Wabel

Phyllis J. Wabel, 89, of Peoria, formerly Lacon, died on January 18, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria. Born to the late Howard and Verna Sinclair West in Henry on September 15, 1926, she married Clarence Wabel in Lacon on June 22, 1946. Clarence died August 16, 2002.

Phyllis was a member of the Lacon Legion Auxiliary for many years. Phyllis was a homemaker, busy raising three daughters. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing bingo and most of all loved being a good mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to others.

She is survived by her daughters Carolynn Tiraboschi and Jean (John) Lane both of Peoria; one sister Dixie Hilligoss of Washburn; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Phyllis was also preceded by her daughter Jane Keller, brother Sonny, two sisters Irma & Bernadine, and granddaughter Andrea Rymer.

Cremation rites are accorded and a memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, January 21 at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon with Pastor Mark McCall officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-6pm prior to service. Burial will be in the Lacon Cemetery at a later date.
