Victor had such a big impact on my life when I was younger. I remember when he hired me at age 17, boy was he tough!! But for means many other young kids he had an impact on how we worked in the future. The work ethics he instilled in us went on for many years. I remember when my son started working at D&D I told him Victors famous words,
" IF YIU HAVE TIME TO LEAN, YOU HAVE TIME TO CLEAN!!"
My condolences to the family.

My first "real" job was working for Victor at Lakewood Rd (Waterbury) McDonald's back in 1983. My twin sister and I have fond memories of our experience there. In fact, we were just recounting various antics and stories from those times with my 16 year old son who just started his first job, at...you guessed it: McDonald's (Queen St. in Southington).

Victor was a colorful character! The accent, always on the move, never missed a trick. NOTHING got by him. He was old-school, tenacious, had a tremendous work ethic and he wanted you to do your best--and heaven forbid you didn't fill those lids before your shift ended!
That was a great McD's. Victor knew EVERY aspect of the business. He's a McDonald's LEGEND. I learned a ton working for him.

My parting thoughts: "If ya got time to lean...ya got time to clean!"...

My condolences to his family.

Dear family,
I met Victor when I was five or six. He worked at the Brookside Dairy in Brooklyn, it was right next door to my yarn. I remember him giving the kids in the neighborhood rides on the conveyer belt in the dairy. He would put us in the cases that were used to carry the milk cans in and out of the dairy. It was great fun to travel in the ride. He was also generous giving us free chocolate milk when they had a surplus.
I would often see him in the Brooklyn Bakery when my mother sent me to get the brown bread. He was always so kind and smiled at us remembering us when we rode the roller coaster in the dairy.
In my adult life our paths crossed again. I went to McDonalds on Lakewood Road and there he was a man I recognized from my youth, he had his big smile on his face when he recognized me. I told him that my friend Susanne, needed a job did he have one for her. His one question, is she a good worker? Yes, then send her there. He saved her and the kids because she was able to work at night and I could babysit. The man is with God and God has given him a place of honor in heaven.
