"To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." You were fortunate to have had him so long.

When I joined Allis-Chalmers in the late 60's Mel was the first Controller I worked for as secretary to him and Gen Mgr. He was the most kind, considerate boss that anyone could ask for and everyone in the Dept loved him. Blessings and Peace to all the family.

May you continually be comforted by thoughts of happier times of precious memories. Death is never easy and it brings great sorrow. May "God surround and comfort "you at this difficult time. Psalms 71:21.

Sam was one of the kindest men I ever met. He was so pleasant to be around and I enjoyed teasing him and listening to him laugh. My sympathies to his wonderful wife and my dear friend Ginny. I will miss him dearly.

To the entire Bartelt family I want to send heart felt condolences from Mary and Tony's friends in New England. I met Melvin and Ginny many years ago when they came East to visit. I still remember the picnic on Tony and Mary's deck with them along with my parents from Iowa and my husband's mother from Rhode Island. They both were fun, open and welcoming. I know Sam will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Be in peace all. Love, Linda

Ginny, Mary, Tim and Betsy;
I learned of Mel's unexpected passing from Tim at my moms funeral on Saturday. Sorry I can't make it on Monday but my thoughts and prayers will be with you. Thanks Mel for your service, and for being an awesome role model for all of us.

Melvin was one of the most honest, humble and happy people I have ever known. He built half of the furniture we own, and never skimped on quality. He was active all his life, even golfing at 94. While other friends his age complained of aches and pains he was still caring for his relatives making sure her banking, taxes and medical appointments were made and visited them regularly. He loved his wife dearly and doted on her all the time. They were approaching their 70th anniversary this May. He was also the most organized person and had a dry sense of humor.
