Peter King

Peter Joseph King died peacefully on the morning of Sunday, July 4th, 2021. Members of his family were with him throughout the last days of his life. Peter was born August 25th, 1923 in Manchester, NH to Thomas and Bridget (O'Malley) King, immigrants from Ireland. He lived in Manchester all his life. He served in the US Navy during World War II. After the war, he attended and graduated from St. Anselm College. In 1947, he married the love of his life, Lillian DeFreitas, also of Manchester; together they had six children. Lillian, his devoted wife, passed away in 2008. Beginning in the early 1950's, Peter became a contractor and land developer, building hundreds of homes and apartments in the Manchester area. Peter was a lifetime resident of Manchester. He also loved spending his winters in Florida and his summers in the White Mountains surrounded by family and friends. He was also an avid golfer. Peter was a devout Catholic who lived his life with deep faith. Peter was a loving and generous father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his brothers-in-law, Richard DeFreitas (and wife Kathy) and Gabriel De Freitas; his children Brenda King-Powers, Donna King, Margaret Ann King, Peter King Jr, Michael King and Kara King Walsh; his sons-in-law, Arthur Powers and Brian Walsh, his daughters-in-law, Barbara Zevos King and Deborah King; his grandchildren Ryan King (wife Holly), Ana Cristina Powers (and husband John), Angelica Powers, Rose King, Connor King, Spencer King, Griffin King, Riley King, Bridget Walsh, Lillian Walsh, Joan Marie Dwyer Walsh and Liam Walsh; great grandchildren, Caroline Powers, Alexandra and Brooklyn King, and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. All who had the honor to have known Peter are saddened, but our lives are richer to have been touched by an amazing, one of a kind man. Calling hours for family and friends of Peter J. King will be at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, Manchester, NH on Thursday, July 8th from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. His funeral Mass will be at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Litchfield, NH on Friday, July 9th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
